Wailua Heritage Trail Expands

Last month 6 new Wailua Heritage Trail signs were created and installed thanks to an Innovation Grant from Kaua‘i County Office of Economic Development (OED) to the Royal Coconut Coast Association (RCCA).  This now gives the Wailua Heritage Trail a total of 8 physical signs.   An informative website was created to complement the trail: www.wailuaheritagetrail.org.  A blessing was held on January 19^th at Poli‘ahu Heiau with Kumu Sean Chun, OED Director Nalani Brun, DMAP Manager Patti Ornellas and board members of RCCA.   Additionally, a new brochure on the Wailua Heritage Trail has been published with support from the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) DMAP funds/program. All markers are bronze anodized plaques mounted on lava rock pedestals or lava rock walls, with Hawaiian place names and interpretation of the significance of the site.
