Canoe Crop Corner at Wailuku First Friday: Featuring local farmers and chefs while educating both the community and visitors about Maui’s rich culture of canoe crops. 

  • May 2 – Canoe Crop Corner at Wailuku First Friday highlighted ʻuala (sweet potato), featuring Ryan Earhart with ‘Okoa Farms and ‘Ui Kahue and Mario Siatris with Maui Grown 808.  Abundant samples of ʻuala pie, ʻuala and lau lau, savory roasted ʻuala, and sweet roasted ʻuala were given out to an enthusiastic crowd.  U’I and Mario shared the cultural significance of the crop along with the amazing uses and varieties.

  • June 6 – The Grand Finale Canoe Crop Corner at Wailuku First Friday will feature Chef Alvin Savella of Coco Deck Lahaina and Maui Grown 808.  Kukui Nut will be showcased as the Canoe Crop.

Ho‘okipa Maui Marketplace: Following the overwhelming success of its 2024 debut, the Hoʻokipa Maui Marketplace is returning May 29, at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa. Designed to foster deeper connections across Maui’s tourism industry, the event is expanding this year to welcome not just guest service professionals, but also visitors and residents seeking to discover Maui’s incredible in-destination experiences.

Living Local Podcast with Leona Wilson  

  • MVCB was invited to be a guest on Leona Wilson’s podcast, “Living Local” and shared updates on traveling pono and the importance of connecting with community while on Maui, along with highlights of upcoming events.
