We’re excited to welcome Brent Lausterer as the new director of sales for the Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau, starting 4 June 2025! Born and raised on Maui, Brent brings more than 25 years of experience in Hawaiʻi’s hospitality industry, with past roles at Prince Resorts Hawai‘i, The Westin Maui, and Hyatt properties across the islands. He will be leading group and leisure sales efforts for Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lāna‘i—tapping into his strong industry connections and even his Japanese language skills! MVCB participated as a panelist in the session Surviving Seasonality: Slow Season Boosts and Overtourism Strategies, presenting “Keeping the Aloha Flowing: Tourism Tools for Busy Peaks & Quiet Valleys.” The session provided a valuable opportunity to share our Maui messaging and strategies with PR and marketing professionals from across the country, encouraging mindful travel during both peak and slower seasons. Audience feedback was extremely positive and encouraging, reinforcing the relevance and impact of our approach.
Canoe Crop Corner at Wailuku First Friday: Featuring local farmers and chefs while educating both the community and visitors about Maui’s rich culture of canoe crops.

6 June – The Grand Finale Canoe Crop Corner at Wailuku First Friday featured Chef Alvin Savella of Coco Deck Lahaina and Maui Grown 808. Kukui Nut was showcased as the Canoe Crop. Chef Alvin also launched his exciting new “Lahaina Boy Hot Sauces” at the event. Uʻi Kahue with Maui Grown 808 demonstrated the cultural significance of the Kukui Nut with the visitors to our booth.

23 – 27 June - Pacific Northwest ‘Ohana Events: Brent will be traveling with Robyn Basso, HVCB Senior Director of Travel Industry Partnerships, along with the Island Chapters’ Directors of Sales, to attend the ‘Ohana Events in the Pacific Northwest. Events are taking place in Sacramento, CA Portland, OR and Seattle, WA and will include locally based Travel Agents/Wholesale partners along with Hawaiʻi hotel and activity representatives. Many Hawaiʻi-based HVCB members also participate for the excellent networking and chance to update the continental based partners on the latest happenings.
