Wailua River State Park 
Visitor and Parking Management Systems 

 

Effective February 23, 2026, Republic Parking Northwest LLC will begin its management of visitor and parking services and fee collection within the Wailua Marina Area, ‘Ōpaeka‘a Falls Area (including Poli‘ahu Heiau), and Wailua Falls Area. 
 

Hawai‘i Administrative Rules establish that entrance and parking fees will be collected in accordance with the following Hawai‘i Park System Entrance and Parking Fee Schedule: 
 

Entrance Fees: Hawai‘i Residents = Free with Hawai‘i ID or Hawai‘i Driver’s License 
                         Non-Residents = $5.00 per person (children 3 and under = free) 
 

Parking Fees: Hawai‘i Residents = Free with Hawai‘i ID or Hawai‘i Driver’s License 
                       Non-Residents = $10.00 per vehicle 
 

Per Commercial Vehicle: 
(1 to 7 passengers per vehicle) = $25.00 
(8 to 25 passengers per vehicle) = $50.00 
(26 + passengers per vehicle) = $90.00      

 

Fee payment by private parties will be accepted via credit card only; cash transactions are strictly prohibited. Commercial Vendors and Kayak Tour Operators providing regular transport of guests to and from the Marina Area are encouraged to contact the parking authority to explore alternative payment options.

Full closure of Waimea Canyon Drive 

LĪHUʻE, Hawaiʻi – The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies road users of the daily full closure of the Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) between Panini Place and Kōkeʻe Road from Monday, January 5 through Friday, February 27, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Traffic needing to access Kōkeʻe State Park will be detoured to Kōkeʻe Road; local traffic will be allowed. These closures are necessary for the contractor to do pavement reconstruction and resurfacing of Waimea Canyon Drive. Variable message boards have been posted to alert road users.

Participation is free, but offers must meet the following minimum criteria: 

  • Hotels: A minimum of 20% off the standard rack rate OR a 5th night free (when the customer pays for a maximum of 4 consecutive nights) 
  • ​Rental Cars: Free upgrade, subject to availability 
  • ​Activities, Tours: Minimum discount of 20% off the regular, publicly available price 
     

To maintain the integrity and appeal of the program, offers must clearly state the required discount in the title or description and must be available to all customers.
