Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park continues its current construction phase but is excited to share the reopening of Uēkahuna, the summit region of Kīlauea volcano where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the caldera from the observation deck.

Visit the Kona Historical Society to learn more about the Kona Beekeeping Legacy Project which shares the story of keeping bees on Hawaiʻi Island. A documentary film titled “From Humble Hives to Global Impact: The Story of Kona’s Beekeeping” is currently being shown through 31 July. Hawaiʻi Island has proudly become one of the top U.S.A. organic honey producers. 

 

MCI Sales Activities: 

With the support of the County of Hawaiʻi, the Island of Hawaiʻi Visitors Bureau hosted its first MCI Showcase 3-5 June in Scottsdale, Arizona. The goal was to develop a robust in-market presence to secure group business. The Island of Hawaiʻi Visitors Bureau, Meet Hawaiʻi, and island representatives presented to Helmsbriscoe meeting planners, HPN Global headquarters, and corporate direct representatives, totaling 32 in-person and 60 virtual attendees. Key points in presentation were island updates, airlift options, discussion of activation plans and outreach programs, as well as cultural presentation through oli chant, hula dance, mele music, moʻolelo story, and ʻohe kapala bamboo stamping demonstration. The showcase targeted meeting planners who have a history of booking Hawaiʻi and are currently looking at contracting programs on Hawaiʻi Island.
