Aloha Fridays at Volcano Art Center 

Aloha Friday cultural demonstrations are held every Friday, from 11 am – 1 pm on the porch of Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. This month’s offerings include: 1st Fridays - Lei making with Kaipo Ah Chong, 2nd Fridays - kapa stamping with Desiree Moana Cruz. 3rd Fridays - ʻukulele with Wes Awana, and 4th Fridays - Lauhala Weaving with Kuʻuipo Morales.

Queen Liliʻuokalani Canoe Race 

The Queen Liliʻuokalani Canoe Race is the largest outrigger canoe race in the world, celebrating Hawaiian culture and the sport of outrigger paddling. It attracts over 2,500 paddlers from various regions, including Hawaiʻi, Tahiti, and Australia, making it a significant event in the paddling community.

26th Annual Queen Liliʻuokalani Birthday Celebration 

The 26th annual celebration of the Queen’s birthday — He Haliʻa Aloha No Liliʻuokalani — is set for 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, September 6, which is the first Saturday after the Queen’s birthday (September 2). Free family fun is set throughout the park including children’s games, cultural demonstrations, information and craft booths, mass hula, flower drop, food trucks, Hawaiian games, live entertainment and more. Overflow parking will be available at Aunty Sally’s in the Civic Center with shuttle service to the park.

Kona Pride Festival
