Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge Announces Extension of Temporary Refuge Closure
Kīlauea, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has extended the temporary closure of the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge through May 28, 2025, for repairs to the main entryway and associated infrastructure.
The Island Visitor Bureaus supported HTJ’s Japan Summit on April 18th at the Hawai‘i Convention Center with island presentations. 22 companies represented from Japan and over 200 Participants from 87 companies in Hawai‘i provided valuable information supporting the Japanese market in Hawai‘i.

Dobrina Zhekova, Travel + Leisure, Forbes and Vogue, Apr. 12-16, in partnership with Ko‘a Kea Resort on Po‘ipū Beach focusing on family-friendly and unique cultural experiences on Kaua‘i. Dobrina experienced a nāpali catamaran sail and a tour at the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG).
Brandon Berkson, Hotels Above Par, Apr. 13-18, visited Kaua‘i for an individual visit and confirmed standalone Kaua‘i coverage in Hotels Above Par. Brandon stayed at The Lodge at Kukui‘ula and 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. He also experienced a nāpali sunset dinner sail, Kaua‘i Museum, Cooking Kaua‘i, Nā ‘Āina Kai Botanical Garden.
Travel Trade:
Through the support of the County of Kaua‘i, the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau planned and executed a multi-city Kaua‘i Seminar Series training a total of 144 travel advisors in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Eight Kaua‘i accommodation partners participated to share property information and updates.
