Mahalo Month for Travel Professionals – Deadline October 28

The Hawaii Tourism Authority has developed the Mahalo Month for Travel Professionals program to attract Hawaii-selling travel professionals to visit our islands.  As part of the program, special offers contributed by local suppliers will be consolidated on the website and available to these travel professionals.

Local supplier participation is open to the airlines, hotels, activities, attractions, retail, restaurants, and tours categories. If your company has not yet submitted an offer for the program, below is the original Hawaii Tourism Authority participation solicitation for your information.

2012 Mahalo Month


The Hawai’i Tourism Authority (HTA) is gearing up for the 2012 Mahalo Month period of April 1, 2012 through May 31, 2012.  Mahalo Month is a great opportunity each year  to attract retail agents, tour operators and reservation center agents to our Hawaiian Islands  to take advantage of special rates and offers from Hawai’i’s visitor industry.  By experiencing Hawai’i’s people, place and culture first hand, they will become familiar with Hawai’i’s product offerings, and be better able to sell our destination to potential visitors.

Mahalo Month Needs Your Kokua for 2012

Your continued participation and support makes Mahalo Month successful each year.  For 2012, we are once again seeking special offers from airline, hotel, activity, attraction, retail, restaurant and tour operators to stimulate travel to  Hawai’i during the Spring shoulder season.  To support your offerings, the Mahalo Month program will be promoted through HTA global marketing partners, including the Hawai’i Visitors and Convention Bureau, Hawai’i Tourism Japan, Hawai’i Tourism Asia, Hawai’i Tourism Oceania, and Hawai’i Tourism Europe.  Information will be promoted via newsletters, training programs, online and other social media efforts.  You are also encouraged to promote your Mahalo Month through your advertising, marketing and promotional efforts as well.

Last year’s Mahalo Month featured over 150 special offers and resulted in more than 600 in-market travel trade professionals registering to participate.  We are happy to report that overall participant feedback was very positive.

Be Part of 2012 Mahalo Month

To participate, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit to input your organization’s offer, and any required criteria or qualifications for the travel trade to be able to take advantage it.
  2. HTA will review information that is input and submit a confirmation email of acceptance of your organization’s offer for the 2012 Mahalo Month program.
  3. Please also set up the matching offer, criteria or qualifications, and references to the 2012 Mahalo Month program in your organization’s system.  This is to ensure that the offer can be noted and processed properly when participating travel trade members make inquiries or contact.
  4. All offers must be input by Friday, October 28, 2011 to be included in the 2012 Mahalo Month program.

Your Mahalo Month Offer

Once your offer is approved, it will be uploaded to the 2012 Mahalo Month site at  Currently it is being revamped , and is scheduled to relaunch in mid-November.

Mahalo month travel trade participants will be able to present a 2012 Mahalo Month card, and be required to provide his or her business card, a valid picture I.D. and an individual company authorization letter to verify qualified participation in your organization’s mahalo month offers.
